‘2023 진주전통공예비엔날레’는 전통공예를 창조적으로 재해석하여 공예문화와 지역 고유의 공예산업을 계승 발전시키고 그 영역을 넓혀가기 위해 ‘오늘의 공예, 내일의 전통’이란 주제로 개최됩니다.

진주는 역사 깊은 공예의 도시이자 유네스코 공예 및 민속예술 창의도시입니다. 시민들의 창의성은 지역의 문화적 유산에 기반을 두고 있습니다. 창의성은 문화생태계에 활기를 불어넣고 선순환을 가져옵니다. 문화생태계의 활성화는 시민의 문화적 권리를 향상시키고 문화의 다양성을 증진시킵니다. 이는 인류의 공동목표인 지속가능발전의 이념을 실현하는 것이기도 합니다.

이번 비엔날레 본전시장인 진주역 차량정비고는 경전선과 호남선을 개통하면서 1925년에 건립된 근대 문화유산입니다. 멈추지 않는 창조적 전통을 세워나가는 오늘의 공예와 그 맥을 같이 합니다.

The JInju Traditional Crafts Biennale 2023, held Under the theme of 'Today's Craft, Tomorrow's Tradition'aims to creatively reinterpret traditional crafts, carry on and advance craft culture, and promote the region’s craft industry, thereby broadening its influence.

Jinju is a city with a long history of craftsmanship and is acknowledged as a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art. The creativity of its citizens is rooted in the cultural heritage of the area, infusing vitality into the cultural ecosystem and establishing a positive cycle. The activation of the cultural ecosystem not only enhances the cultural rights of citizens but also promotes cultural diversity, contributing to the realization of the shared goal of sustainable development for humanity.

The primary exhibition venue of the Biennale, the Maintenance Workshop at Jinju Station, is a modern cultural heritage site constructed in 1925 with the opening of Gyeongjeon and Honam Railroad Lines. It stands as a testament to the ongoing creative tradition of today's crafts.
