Traditional costume of Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai City of Craft and Folk Art has awarded its first commemorative certificate to 13 artists, who are already over 60 years old and have been dedicating themselves to traditional crafts and folk art, in the 4th edition of Chiang Mai Crafts Fair, which was held in December 2020.

On this occasion, Chiang Mai City of Craft and Folk Art would like to introduce Ms. Oonruan Khamlar, one of important textile artists in the city. Ms. Oonruan Khamlar lives in Tha Duea Sub-district, Doi Tao District, Chiang Mai Province. She has learnt and accumulated weaving skill from her family since she was young. She started her career as a weaver when she was 23 years old. Textiles from Doi Tao have been recognized as one of Chiang Mai’s identities because of outstanding artistic style and valuable indigenous knowledge.
